Description
This rug is hand knotted in Isfahan. Isfahan is the name of a city in Iran that has long been the center of production of Persian rugs. Harmony, symmetry, variety of colors, low pile and using Persian knots are features of Isfahan carpets. These features turned them into one of the most original Persian rugs. In producing these carpets, traditional designs like Shah Abbasi, Vase, Tree of Life and Pictorial are still used. However, the most popular motifs are medallion. The original rug was a 1960s medallion rug that after 50 years was redesigned.
Redesigning a rug is a new trend emerged in the rug industry in which vintage and antique rugs are over dyed. This is a technique that traditionally performed on vintage handwoven wool rugs, by which the original color is removed undergo a gentle dyeing process and then a single vibrant color is added, insofar as the initial patterns don’t completely fade. Over dying allows us to save beautiful antique rugs that may be worn and restore them to a new found glory! In recent years, over dyed rugs have found a special place in modern interior design.
Isfahan rug are usually woven by using Persian knots. Persian knot that is known as asymmetrical or Senneh knot yarn is wrapped around one warp only, then the other side of the yarn is passed behind the adjacent warp – in this way a less gap is created and it makes the pile thinner. This rug is hand knotted by natural wool.
Every rug in our handknotted collection is a one off piece.
