Fine Artist – Haseen C
Haseen C; a Fine Artist from Karachi, was discovered by Barjis Chohan, – CEO of the British lifestyle brand Barjis London. His passion for sketching has given rise to some interesting artistic work. Haseen means beauty – this is clearly evident in his work.
His inspiration is drawn from people and places around him. Being a self- taught artist, Haseen has a raw quality that artists lose over time. It is quite inspiring to discover Artists who have continued with their passion, with limited resources and the pressure of society’s negative image of the Arts – in particularly within the South Asian communities. This can consequently put off Artists and Designers from pursuing a career in the Arts.
Barjis Chohan has been on a quest to discover new talent to nurture and mentor for her social enterprise www.thebarjisinitiative.org (TBI). TBI works closely with schools and universities to inspire kids and the youth coming from disadvantaged backgrounds to venture in the Arts/Enterprise. This has been an on – going social project for Barjis for several years – whose main objective is to inspire under privileged kids/ youth around the UK and the world through her School Workshops Programme – in the mission to bring diversity and inclusivity to the Art and Design world.
Initially creatives are mentored and supported through The Barjis Initiative; to develop their business skills to enter the commercial market and then sell their work on the selling platform Barjis & co. Haseen’s work will be commissioned by Barjis London and be given the recognition of his work as a collaborative Barjis x Haseen project.
Artist/Designers from different disciplines will work on a collaborative project with Barjis – as well as displaying and selling their own work on Barjis & co. platform. 20% of Barjis & Co’s profits are reinvested in TBI to continue supporting creative’s and individuals, coming from disadvantaged backgrounds, whether these are: white working class boys, women start ups and individuals who are struggling to break into the creative Arts and assisting in supporting talented individuals in continuing their professional education.
“My mission is to make the Arts accessible to all and not just for the privileged class. Everyone should be entitled to pursue their dreams and not let their class and race determine their career path” – Barjis Chohan.
Not all Designers and Artists on Barjis & co. come from TBI mentoring scheme; any creative can apply to be considered to sell through Barjis & Co. To apply please visit our website
