The EVOKE COLLECTION
During my visit to Pakistan in the mid 90s, I discovered a book at the Urdu bazaar which is situated in Saddar, Karachi. I have an obsession of collecting books and this book showed the history of Pakistan through images. The images of my heritage were captivating and it made me wonder what if we can go back and feel and see how our ancestors used to live. These images stayed with me and I wanted to create something that could be a mural conveying the soul of Pakistan, Evoke a sense of nostaglia, intrigue and a design that made you feel warm, content and pay homage to our ancestors who built Pakistan.
I showed these hand sketched photographs to a friend Mark Forrest who also runs a successful wallpaper business for over 30 years and he created a unique wall mural that evokes a sense of nostalgia and belonging.
The Evoke collection is an evolving collection, collaborating with different artists, designers and creatives with a mission to celebrate the South Asian history and bring people together through art and design.
A brief history...
Pakistan was created in 14th August 1947. The Great Partition of India caused the biggest migration in history and broke up a rich and diverse country to be split into India, East Pakistan and West Pakistan. Pakistan was then further split in 1971 when East Pakistan became Bangladesh. India is one of the oldest civilisations and is rich with culture, languages, diversity and religions. The impact of the partition is still felt today and this collection which is work in progress is a series of work in collaboration with creatives to express the sentiments and evoke a sense of belonging and nostalgia amongst my audience.

Evoke: wallpaper & home decor
Mark was briefed on what we wanted to created. A beautiful wall mural that pays homage through imagery with a little hint of decoration for a statement wall of a beautiful home or restaurant. This was then developed into luxurious cushions for stylish high end interiors and coasters and tablemats.
